Management of application designers in the development environment - configuration window

Description:
The window serves for managing designers and groups of application designers in the PROMOTIC development environment.

The application designer management allows to secure the PROMOTIC application against unauthorized access and to set the settings for individual designers that are involved in the development of the application, the appropriate permissions that determine the designer's access to different parts of the application or development environment (e.g. forbid access to selected objects in the Pma object tree).

If the designer login to the development environment is not activated, then access to the PROMOTIC application is not restricted and the application can be opened and edited in any supported PROMOTIC to the development environment. It is also possible to convert the application to a higher version without restrictions.

If you want to secure the PROMOTIC application against unauthorized access, then it is necessary to enable the login of application designers to the development environment and create at least one designer account that is also an administrator, i.e. belongs to the group $Admin. This group is already preconfigured in each application and cannot be removed, edited or renamed. Each designer who belongs to this group becomes an administrator, i.e. has full access to the whole application and to the application designer administration. At the same time, an administrator cannot belong to a group other than $Admin. Only the administrator can also create, delete or edit other designer groups or other designer accounts.

If you want to restrict some designers from accessing selected parts of the application, then you first need to create a new designer group and in this group create one or more permissions that, for example, prohibit access to selected objects in the Pma object tree. Then, one or more designer accounts can be created that belong to that designer group and, after login in to the development environment, they will be assigned all the permissions from that group. For more information see Access to the Pma object.

For each application designer, a login name and either a password or a string of additional authentication conditions or both must be filled in. The process of login to the development environment depends on the number of designers and how they are authenticated.

If only one designer (administrator) is registered in the application then:
- if only the password is filled in, then a password entry window will be displayed before opening the application. The login name is not entered. After password verification, the application will be opened in the development environment.
- if only additional authentication conditions are filled in, then no window will be displayed before opening the application and after verification of licence key number or user number the application will be opened in the development environment.
- if the password and additional authentication conditions are filled in, then a window for entering the password will be displayed before opening the application. The login name is not entered. After verification of the password and licence key number or user number the application will be opened in the development environment.
- After successful login, a button with the designer's name appears in the upper right corner of the development environment window, which offers, for example, the possibility to logoff or open the application designer management.

If multiple designers are registered in the application then:
- A window for entering the login name and password will always be displayed before opening the application.
- If only additional authentication conditions are filled in for a given designer, then only the login name is entered at login and the password is left blank.
- After verification of the password and licence key number or user number the application will be opened in the development environment.
- After successful login, a button with the designer's name appears in the upper right corner of the development environment window, which offers, for example, the possibility to logoff or open the application designer management.

This configuration window can be opened in the "Development environment settings" window.
