Communication with Elsaco PLC devices (Czech republic)

The Elsaco company delivers PLC's and PROMOS (PROMOS line 2) units. It is possible to communicate with these devices over the serial link RS485 by several protocols:

Communication by Modbus protocol

Modbus is a standard, very often used protocol for the serial link and Ethernet.

For this communication in the PROMOTIC system can be used: PmModbusMr - Driver for communication by Modbus Master protocol.

For easy integration of this driver into the application it is handy to use:

Profibus/EPSNET protocol

The protocol comes from the definition of the transportation level of the PROFIBUS protocol. The used variant is compatible with the EPSNET monomaster protocol used in the Tecomat devices.

For this communication in the PROMOTIC system can be used:

SAM ASCII protocol

Very simple protocol (like the building set ADAM) that allows to address more units on the common bus. It is used usually at simple devices that don't require the fast transfer of greater volume of data.

For this communication in the PROMOTIC system can be used: PmChar - Driver for communication by user defined ASCII/BIN protocol.

PROFIBUS DP protocol

The standard industrial protocol. It is possible to use the OPC server from various suppliers for this protocol. Then the PROMOTIC application will communicate as a client by the OPC interface, i.e. by the PmOpcClient object, the PROMOTIC will be connected to the OPC server and thus communicate with the devices.

OPC server by the ELSACO company

The ELSACO company, the PLC manufacturer, also provides the OPC server for communication with these PLCs. Then the PROMOTIC application will communicate as a client by the OPC interface, i.e. by the PmOpcClient object, the PROMOTIC will be connected to the OPC server and thus communicate with the devices.
