PROMOTIC modes according to the licence

The PROMOTIC development environment is launched in different modes according to the licence it is launched with. For example it can be launched without the licence key (without the HW key), with development licencePmDev, with runtime licence PmRtLite, PmRtStandard, PmRtProf, etc. If the system is launched without any licence key, then the modes depend on the Runtime regime without the licence key configurator selection. The description of all PROMOTIC modes, limitations and behavior follows.

The identifier of the current mode for both development and runtime environment can be found in running application on following places:
- in application editor down, on the right portion of the status bar
- in INFO system, in the /System/Licence item

A list of development environment modes

- DevNone: The development environment cannot be launched. This mode is on for:
- runtime licences PmRtLite, PmRtStandard, PmRtProf
- for applications larger than 100 variables launched without the licence key

- DevFree: Free development environment (see PmDevFree). This mode is on if the application is launched without the licence key and its size is up to100 variables. Limitation: in this mode, it is not possible to create more than 100 variables. The application can be launched for testing purposes in the RtForDevFree mode, or the applications up to 30 variables and 10 graphic panels can be operated in a RtFree mode.

- DevProf: Full development environment. This mode is on if the application is launched with the PmDev licence. There are no limits for developing this application. The application can be launched for testing purposes in the RtForDevProf mode.

- DevForRt: The development environment enabled in the runtime licence. This mode is on if the application is launched with the runtime licence containing the PmDevForRt component. There is no limitation for application development, just for entering the development environment, the Shift key must be held while launching.

A list of runtime environment modes

- RtNone: The runtime environment cannot be launched. This mode is on, if the application is launched without the licence key and its size is above 100 variables (or if it is smaller than 100 variables, but the Runtime regime without the licence key configurator is set to "RtNone+DevNone - cannot be launched either to the development environment or to the runtime").

- RtFree: Free runtime environment (see PmRtFree). This mode is on if the application is launched without any licence key, with the size up to 30 variables and 10 graphic panels and the Runtime regime without the licence key configurator set either to "RtFree1 - free runtime, application up to 30 variables and 10 graphic panels, START INTO THE DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT" or "RtFree2 - free runtime, application up to 30 variables and 10 graphic panels, START INTO RUNTIME (start into development environment by holding the <Shift> key)". The runtime runs for unlimited time period, all components are fully functional (communications, databases ..) and two PmWebClient are enabled.

- RtLite: The runtime environment with the PmRtLite licence key. This mode is on if the application is launched with this licence and the application size is up to 100 variables.

- RtStandard: The runtime environment with the PmRtStandard licence key. This mode is on if the application is launched with this licence and the application size is up to 50 000 variables.

- RtProf: The runtime environment with the PmRtProf licence key. This mode is on if the application is launched with this licence. The application size is not limited.

- RtForDevFree: The testing runtime environment for development environment in the DevFree mode. This mode is on if the application is launched without any licence key, with the size up to 100 variables and the Runtime regime without the licence key configurator set to "RtForDevFree - runtime for testing the applications up to 100 variables". This mode contains the warning windows and time limitation of the application runtime up to 1 hour. All components are fully functional (communications, databases ..) and two PmWebClient are enabled. Must not be runned as a real application.

- RtForDevProf: Testing runtime environment for development environment in the DevProf mode. This mode is used if the application is launched with PmDev licence. The runtime runs for 7 days time period (for testing purposes) and then the application is stopped and an information window is displayed. Warning window is displayed every hour (this window does not affect the functionality of the application), all components are fully functional (communications, databases ..) and 10 PmWebClient are enabled. Must not be runned as a real application.

- RtAppDemo: The runtime environment designed for DEMO application creation. This mode is on if the aplication is launched withou any licence key and the Runtime regime without the licence key configurator is set to "RtAppDemo - demo runtime, unlimited application size". The application opens a warning window when launched and then runns for 1 hour. All components (communications, databases, ..) are fully functional in this application and one PmWebClient is enabled.

The designer can create own DEMO applications in the PROMOTIC system, including for example real communication with selected device and offer them to his customers for the demonstration purposes. Must not be runned as a real application.

The PROMOTIC systems with no licence key

The list above implies, that the PROMOTIC system can be runned without buying the licence. When no licence is purchased, the following modes are available:

Free PROMOTIC:

If the application size is up to 30 variables and 10 graphic panels and the Runtime regime without the licence key configurator is set either to "RtFree1 - free runtime, application up to 30 variables and 10 graphic panels, START INTO THE DEVELOPMENT ENVIRONMENT" or "RtFree2 - free runtime, application up to 30 variables and 10 graphic panels, START INTO RUNTIME (start into development environment by holding the <Shift> key)", then the DevFree and RtFree modes are turned on. This kind of application can be runner freely as a freeware. See: PmFree - Free development environment and a runtime licence of the PROMOTIC system.

Free development environment:

If the application size is up to 100 variables then the DevFree mode is turned on. This way it is possibel to develop an application for the PmRtLite licence without the need to buy the development environment.

Free application demo:

If the Runtime regime without the licence key configurator is set to "RtAppDemo - demo runtime, unlimited application size", then the RtAppDemo mode is on. This way, it is possible to create a functional DEMO from any application of any size, suitable for offering to customers for the purpose of presentation.
